Worm Worlds
North American Association for
Environmental EducationVINE Neighborhood Ecology Network has a
unique activity, WORM WORLDS. It engages students in a study of the
worms living right in their own schoolyard or backyard!
Working together, teams of students (4th grade and up) pour a dry mustard and water solution on two different areas to raise worms to the ground's surface. Then they count the worms and compare the environmental conditions in the two worm habitats. Activity extensions integrate with math and other curricula, and challenge students to act to improve their local environment.
To order your copy of WORM WORLDS, send a check for $2.50 to NAAEE-VINE, P.O. Box 400, Troy, OH 45373, USA.
