CitySpace is an international networking project which invites young people from across the Internet to construct and explore a virtual environment. The installation consists of an interactive theater in which visitors can navigate through an imaginary city. There, they can construct new buildings, vehicles, characters, and other creations. Visitors to the Exploraratorium and the Ontario Science Centre in Toronto, Canada, are able to explore CitySpace simultaneously. This first-ever internationally networked virtual environment made its world premiere at Multimedia Playground '95. Networking and 3-D model-building workshops were scheduled throughout the exhibition. Project support is provided by Silicon Graphics and USENIX.
