Since
the early days of the Exploratorium, we've reached out to people
who are unable to visit the museum-or who want to revisit it-in
a variety of ways. Among the ways we do this is by offering engaging,
informative publications.
We've been creating publications for some time-our quarterly magazine,
Exploratorium Magazine,
and our premiere book, the Exploratorium
Cookbook I, were both first published nearly twenty years
ago. Since then, we've expanded the range and volume of our publications.
For example, the museum's teaching staff, eager to share their ideas
with other educators, created the Exploratorium
Science Snackbook in 1991. That same year, partnering with
the wonderful folks at Klutz Press in Palo Alto, California, our
first book for the general public, Explorabook,
launched us into the realm of commercial publishing. The classic
"kids' science museum in a book," that book has now sold
close to one-million copies and has garnered a Parent's Choice award.
The
Exploratorium's Publishing Program is committed to creating captivating
publications for kids and families, curious adults, students and
teachers, and museum professionals. We're very proud of our books,
charts, and posters, and hope, like a visit to our museum, they
will entertain, delight, and enlighten you.
All
of our current publications (except for our magazine, now available
only as part of a paid membership) are available for purchase in
the Exploratorium Online
Store.
