The 2005 Bay Area Institute will be held at the Golden Gate
Club in the San Francisco Presidio from Friday, August 19
- Sunday, August 21, 2005. A reception on Thursday, August
18 at the Exploratorium will kick off the conference.
The centerpiece of this year's BAI is the Roundtable sessions.
These 2-day sessions will draw upon the impressive array of
insights and experiences in the room to review the state of
our knowledge and practice, and where further effort is needed,
in certain key areas of CILS work. These sessions are intended
to set the stage for the work that we, and others, will pursue
after CILS. The proceedings from the Roundtable sessions will
form the basis of summary papers that review, from a CILS
perspective, key practices and questions related to the Roundtable
topics.
In addition to roundtables, we have a slate of 18 workshop
sessions; poster sessions featuring current CILS research
projects and doctoral work; and three site-based workshops
at the Lawrence Hall of Science, the California Academy of
Sciences, and the Exploratorium.
