Bevan, who serves as the Director of the Center for
Informal Learning and Schools, has worked with the Exploratorium's
Center for Teaching and Learning since 1991. Her work
has involved strategic development and management of
the programs that connect the museum with schools. She
also has co-developed the Exploratorium Network for
Exhibit-Based Teaching (ExNET) program--a network of
ten museums from around the country and internationally
who are committed to integrating their institutions
into the local school district science education infrastructure.
Bevan worked for five years at the Education Development
Center's Center for Children and Technology, conducting
classroom-based research on projects that linked schools
and local cultural resources, such as museums, theatre
companies, and other informal learning institutions.
She has participated in several arts-in-education research
and evaluation projects, including one centering on
teacher development of formative assessment in arts-integrated
curriculum, and another looking at discipline-based
teacher professional development.
