| Candice Brown, a
long-time staff member of the Exploratorium, now directs the CILS project at UCSC. Candice
has a Ph.D. in Education Psychology with an emphasis
in Teaching and Learning/Science Education from the
University of California, Santa Barbara. Candice began
her career in inquiry-based science education with the
Adopt-a-Beach Program at the California Coastal Commission.
She has worked on curriculum development, led professional
development workshops, designed traveling education
exhibits, and recently taught science methods and theory
courses in the Division of Education at University of
California, Davis. She helped found the Farallones Marine
Sanctuary Association, a nonprofit that helps protect
ocean resources through outreach and education. Before becoming
the UCSC Project Director for CILS, she worked at the Exploratorium's Institute for Inquiry.
