| Sally
Duensing, a long-time staff member of the Exploratorium, has worked
at UCSC as CILS Project Director and is now a CILS consultant at KCL.
She also
held the Collier Chair, a one-year professorship
in the Public Understanding of Science at the University
of Bristol, England in which she brought university
science and learning research into public domains. In
her twenty-five years at the Exploratorium, she directed
a variety of exhibit development projects. Most recently
she was PI for the Exploratorium's NSF funded exhibition
on biological, cognitive and cultural aspects of human
memory.
She has directed numerous professional development
programs for staff from museums around the world and
is an advisor for international museum projects. In
addition, she has worked for many years on building
connections between the Exploratorium and the scientific
community through fellowships, exhibits, seminars, and
lectures. Her most recent publication is a chapter titled
"The Object of Experience" in the book Perspectives
on Object Centered Learning, in 2002. She was the 1993
recipient of the Museum Educator's Award for Excellence
from the American Association of Museums.
