Stress Analysis
(force and structure)

Stress Analysis exhibit allows the visitor to use light shining through polarized filter to see the stress points in clear plastic models of bridges and beams. Pressing on different parts of the models changes the optical properties of the plastic where the material becomes stressed. The changes in optical properties cause the stresses to appear as dark bands when viewed with polarized light.
