Almost wholly funded by The City of Wolfsburg, phæno is one of Europe's most dynamic, interactive science centers since its opening in 2006. Zaha Hadid, winner of the Pritzker architectural prize for 2004, conceived phæno's building. phæno's exhibitions were designed and managed by San Francisco based Ansel Associates, Inc. For this project, Museum Partnerships produced 48 customized exhibits-about 1/5th of phæno's total exhibit content.
