Magnetic Suction

What makes a doorbell work? Push the button on the doorbell on the pinball flipper. Look inside the clearboxes and try to find the coil of wire and iron rod that make them work. Press the start current button on the left side of the table. Now grab the the iron rod and try moving it in and out of the copper core. Coils of wire called solenoids, are used with iron plungers to turn electricity into short quick motion, such as in doorbells or pinball flippers. They also activiate the starter in your car, and close valves in washing machines.
