Shadow
Kaleidoscope consists of two small front-surfaced mirrors
hinged together. A kaleidoscope is an image multiplier.
The number of images it makes depends on the number
of mirrors and on the angle at which the mirrors meet.
This kaleidoscope has only two mirrors, but many possible
angles. A red dot painted on the table lets visitors
see how many images they can create at different angles.
Multiple shadow images can also be created with the
visitor's hands by holding them above the mirrors.
