Four skillets can be placed on heating elements, revealing the different heat transfer characteristics of cast iron, aluminum, stainless steel, and copper clad stainless steel. Temperature sensitive liquid crystal film is glued to the inside of each skillet. The film reveals how heat spreads through the material by changing color as the temperature changes. A section is cut from each skillet to show the material that each pan is made of.
