South Pointing Cart

A person sitting on this cart always faces in the same direction no matter which way the cart is turning. South pointing chariots existed in ancient Chinese history. They were mechanical not magnetic, equipped with geers that translated differences in the rotational speed of chariot's wheels to the orinetation of a pointing figure mounted on a vertical shaft. Here the visitor takes the place of that mounted figure.
