Task/Redesign Parachute Activity

Hand out a redesign template.

As you work on the parachute redesign we ask that you keep the following questions in mind:

  • Which age group will you be working with; adults or students; what grade level(s)?
  • What is the content area and what are the specific concepts that you wish to focus on?
  • What is the rationale for this particular redesign; and how does it fit into the overall curriculum design?

Step 4 & 5 ---

Test Redesign (encourage participants to test their new activity design out with supplied materials)

Step 6 ---15 min

Handout criteria sheets In their groups they brainstorm what criteria they felt were importanT in their redesign.

Name at least three criteria that you feel are important in redesigning this activity, for example...gives learners opportunities for direct experience with scientific phenomena

Step 7 --- 45 min

Total group discussion

Discuss the redesigned activities by table group.

As they share out they should share their criteria.

Add any criteria from Wynne Harlen's list of criteria that has not been mentioned. Handout Wynne Harlens "Criteria for Evaluating Learner's Activities"
