LIFE SCIENCES INTERN
Exhibits Group: Life Sciences Area
Fixed-Term, Full-Time Position




SUMMARY:

This position is a fixed-term, full-time paid internship position in Life Sciences, providing support for the daily set-up of public exhibits and demonstrations, as well as behind-the-scenes activities such as making solutions and culturing organisms.  Additionally, the position undertakes routine maintenance of living organisms, Life Sciences exhibits, and laboratory equipment.  Applicants must be able to work weekends.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    • Daily set up of Life Sciences exhibits
    • Daily preparations of solutions and cultures necessary for exhibit set-up
    • Daily live microscope demonstrations for the public
    • Routine maintenance of Life Sciences exhibits and equipment
    • Routine care of marine invertebrates, plants, freshwater fish, terrariums, and insect colonies
    • Additional duties, as assigned by supervisor



    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree in biological science
    • Strong interest in biology and science education
    • Experience or desire to work with living organisms
    • Basic laboratory skills necessary
    • Knowledge of and skill in microscopy and dissections useful

    HOW TO APPLY:
