Moving Images Department
Regular, Full-Time Position



SUMMARY:

The Moving Images Project Coordinator is part of a team responsible for producing media content for the Exploratorium Website and other platforms. This position includes the planning, scheduling, and logistical support of all Moving Images work. The work includes supporting the production of videos, live webcasts, podcasts, studio installations, content for YouTube and other social media, and technical
support of evening events and other museum programs.

This position requires an energetic and highly organized person willing to take on both technical and organizational aspects of a busy production team. The position requires the ability to disseminate artistic and scientific processes through adult and youth programming on the Exploratorium website and for museum visitors. The Moving Images Program Coordinator reports directly to the Manager of Moving
Images.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Facility Support
* Insure that all production spaces are orderly and clean
* Maintain the Webcast Studio on the museum floor, which includes ordering and installing graphics, creating media playlists, organizing the space, overseeing furniture, exhibits, and rotating installations
* Assist in equipment tracking, inventory, and installing new equipment

Administrative Support
* Update department schedules and calendars
* Organize meetings, appointments, and coordinate talent/guests/locations for production
* Update and maintain the media portal, explo.tv, and database
* Order and maintain production supplies
* Maintain and improve department files, archives, vendor and contractor lists
* Assist in research
* Coordinate with outside scientists and presenters in a professional manner
* Evening and weekend work is required
* Other duties as assigned

Production Support
* Perform basic technical support for Exploratorium programming spaces, which include the Webcast studio, theater, classrooms, and museum floor
* Act as production assistant and coordinator on video shoots, webcasts, and other media gathering
* Serve as technical support/stage manager/talent on webcasts and video shoots
* Coordinate work with Online Engagement and Social Media staff
* May be asked to shoot, edit, and compress audio and video files for the website and webcast studio

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

* BA/BS degree or an equivalent combination of college and work experience
* Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in an informal educational setting, as well as with the local and national arts, science, and informal education community
* Demonstrated vision and enthusiasm for the role of media programming within the museum setting
* Experience with video shooting, editing, and compression
* Knowledge and experience with social media and Web 2.0 applications
* Competitive skills with Mac and PC computer environments, knowledge of presentation and video editing software
* Ability to work in a chaotic and occasionally stressful environment
* Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and organizational skills
* Ability to use a computer terminal and general office equipment; can move from place to place; can lift and carry up to 50 pounds short distances; can reach, bend, twist, etc.
* Willingness to have a flexible schedule. This position may require working nights and weekends.
