  SENIOR GRAPHIC PRODUCTION ARTIST
Graphics Department
Fixed-Term, Full-Time Position



SUMMARY:


The Senior Graphic Production Artist reports to the Art Director and is responsible for working additionally with two Senior Designers and Writers and Program staff to produce artwork and layouts for publications, posters, signage and environmental design for the museum.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Act as production artist, producing graphic layouts for posters, brochures, cards and signage under the direction of Designers.
  • Layout graphic materials using InDesign
  • Prepare computer files for a variety of printing technologies; i.e., traditional offset printing, silk-screen, and digital printers
  • Communicate with designers and other Exploratorium staff and printers/vendors

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years experience in the production of graphic materials for offset printing and computer print processes
  • Thorough knowledge of Mac OSX and font usage
  • Excellent knowledge of CS3 InDesign, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Word
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects
  • BA in art or related field
  • Interest and/or background in the arts and/or sciences is a plus
