A virtual library is a set of Web pages which contain substantial numbers of links to Internet resources organized via subject categories created by someone familiar with the topic. In a sense, this type of virtual library is really an intelligently designed "links library" or "links index" that has been organized and compiled by subject experts or people intensely interested in a field. The intent is to guide searchers to carefully selected resources. These pages are vital to both beginning and advanced searchers. They reflect the personal biases of their creator(s) and range from the very frivolous to the fanatical, with a great many valuable resources in between. The downside is that there may not be a page on the topic you are interested in.
