Yes. Simply bring a printout of your email confirmation to Admissions or the Membership Kiosk and we will issue you a temporary card for you to use until you receive your Membership packet.

The benefit for Active level Memberships allows two people into the museum. This can be two named adults or one named adult and his or her guest. This level comes with only one card.

No. A Family level Membership admits only the two adults who are named on the card (or one named adult who must be present with their unnamed guest). Memberships are nontransferable and photo ID is required. We do have a Caregiver card that can be added to a Family level Membership for an additional $20. This special card allows one unnamed caregiver to bring the Member’s children to visit. The Family Plus Membership level admits up to four adults—two named adults and two "guest-of" cards that can be used by any unnamed adult, with or without the Members present.

The After Dark Member Pass is a special paperless level of Membership. Your pass will not be mailed to you. It will be available for pick-up at the Membership kiosk at any future After Dark event. If you purchase an After Dark Membership online later than 2:00 p.m. the day of the event, please bring in the email confirmation and a photo ID, and a temporary card will be made for you.

No, you may upgrade your Membership at any time during the year. Call the Membership office at (415) 561-0321 and your additional benefits will begin immediately. We will pro-rate the cost of the upgrade in order to retain your original expiration date.

The two Members’ Parties in May and December do require a RSVP by phone or online. For all other Members’ Evening Hours throughout the year, simply show your Membership card and photo ID at the Admissions window.

We do our best to update the website in a timely manner once registration for a class is full, but we can’t always guarantee up-to-date information due to the frequency of incoming registrations. The best thing to do is to submit your registration form as soon as possible. If the class is full, you will be contacted immediately. Your credit card will not be charged or your check will be voided, and you will be placed on a waiting list.

If you do not have your Member number handy or you are a new Member who has not yet received your cards, please list the full name of the Membership cardholder and write "please look up" in the "Member #" line.

Cancellation and refund procedures are different for each of our programs. The policy for each program can be found on that program’s webpage, registration form, or Medical Release form.

Member camps, classes, workshops, and excursions are a Member-only benefit. First, turn in your registration form as soon as possible to ensure your position in the class. If your Membership has expired, you will be contacted and can either renew your Membership or choose not to enroll in the program.
