“It’s a very neat little kit. It’s just scissors, tubes, a paintbrush, and a pencil. If we come across a colony of adult whiteflies and we want to preserve them, then I have to pick them up very gently with a small paintbrush, and deposit them into a tube of ethyl alcohol. The scissors are for cutting leaves off, or in the case of some of these whiteflies, for cutting a small square of leaf and putting that into the spirit.”—Jon Martin, Entomologist, Natural History Museum, London
