CERN: The Heart of the Matter - Inside the world's largest particle accelerator
Live at CERN People Ideas Tools Place

Athena Experimental Area

1 — Scientist working on the tube where anti-hydrogen is made
2 — Positron (anti-electron) source
3 — Positron chiller (to slow particles down)
4 — Liquid nitrogen for cooling the magnets
5 — Radiation safety door into the AD. Walking through this door while the accelerator is operating is a bad idea.
6 — Antiprotons enter Athena through this wall
7 — Magnet inside which antimatter interactions occur. Also houses detectors.
