PROJECT GOALS

Short term

• Conduct educator-use studies to refine our interface design so users can rapidly search and access the Learning Resources Collection

• Conduct studies to understand how K–12 educators find and use digital informal science resources in their teaching

Long term

• Support educator online communities and reviews of resources that the educators have tried with learners, and offer additional teaching tips

• Understand the kinds of metadata that are important to teachers to help them find useful digital resources

• Enable affordable ways to index Exploratorium digital resources according to national and state curriculum standards

• Sustain the Exploratorium Digital Library as an invaluable national resource via NSDL, and serve as a catalyst for other institutions that rely on rich collections to create effective teacher education and learning experiences
