March Music and Movies Meet local musicians and filmmakers in a special series of “live cinema” programs designed for all ages at the Exploratorium's March Music and Movies Series on March 1, 8 and 15. For these first three Saturdays in March, the Exploratorium highlights a different group of musicians and filmmakers performing original tunes to homemade movies. This event is included in the price of admission to the Exploratorium. The schedule is as follows:
Hootenanny Hoedown with Melinda Stone and Sam Sharkey in Person Joined by Special Guests Orange Sherbet Round up yer young'ns and high-tail it to the rowdiest variety show this side of the 21st Century. Sam and Melinda present "Hootenanny Hoedown." Come be a part of the musical antics! Witness visual delights! And experience SF's largest Kazoo-a-long. One of the only film events where you are asked not to be quiet. Hootenanny Highlights include a couple of new fangled sing-alongs highlighting life on the farm, two animations by Sarah Klein with live accompaniment by Orange Sherbet, and a film that investigates the wonderfully weird life of the Kombucha culture, complete with kazoo accompaniment by the entire audience. Kombucha tastings and prizes too. Saturday, March 8th, at 2pm
Saturday, March 15th, at 2pm Paul Clipson works primarily in Super 8mm film, in an improvised manner that seeks to bring to light subconconscious preoccupations and un-thought, unexpected visual elements that reveal themselves during the process of filming. He exhibits his work in collaboration with experimental music and sound artists. Jefre Cantu-Ledesma is a founding member of the band Tarentel and has been releasing long form work using string and wind instruments under his own name for the last few years. His work has been described by Aquarius records as everything from " stretched out and darkly glistening deep resonant tones" to "glowing tongues of distorted flame." # # # |
