Exploratorium at the Maker Faire - May 19 & 20, 2012

Exploratorium at the Maker Faire

San Mateo County Event Center

Image of Open MAKE: Cardboard, © ExploratoriumFrom rockets to robots, from up-cycled clothes to sustainable foods, the annual Bay Area Maker Faire features the many ways that people celebrate their imaginations. The Exploratorium has been an integral part of this annual event since its creation in 2006 by MAKE magazine's publisher/editor Dale Dougherty. Taking place on Saturday and Sunday, May 19 and 20, at the San Mateo Event Center in San Mateo, CA, this family-friendly weekend festival embraces the creativity and resourcefulness of the Maker and Do-It-Yourself movements. There are now Maker Faires held all over the United States, and even in Canada.

Since 2010, the Exploratorium's Tinkering Studio™ has collaborated with Dougherty and Pixar Animation Studios to present its monthly Open MAKE series. Each one is based on a specific theme. This year, toys, time, tools, and trash were the inspirations. The tinkering excitement culminates in May with the Make Faire. Don’t miss the Exploratorium's traveling Tinkering Studio™ at the Maker Faire, featuring more of the hands-on activities that have made Open MAKE so popular.
