Participants at August 2011 Girls Science InstituteFrom Marie Curie, the scientist who pioneered research in radioactivity, to Rita Levi-Montalcini, a Nobel laureate neurologist who discovered the nerve growth factor, female scientists have altered the course of history. Starting Monday, June 4, and running through Friday, June 8, 2012, girls can join the Exploratorium for Girls Science Institute: Engineering.

This five day-long workshop, for girls ages 10 through 12 years old, will have them diving into chemical, mechanical, structural and electrical engineering. They will explore the lives of women who had significant impact on these fields, and discover science through hands-on activities. Women experts from a variety of engineering fields will share their stories, and support the campers during their engineering explorations. The week culminates in a group engineering challenge.  $315 Members; $365 Nonmembers.

Hours of Operation & New Evening Hours
Tuesday-Sunday 10am-5pm;  every Thursday evening adults only (ages 18 and up) 6pm-10pm.

Admission
$25 for adults, with lower rates for SF Bay Area residents, youth, seniors, students, teachers and the disabled. Tickets available at the door and advance tickets available online at www.exploratorium.edu/visit/tickets.
