Sizzle, Boom and Crackle with Full Spectrum Science: Fireworks

Thursday, July 18, 2013, 7pm and Sunday, July 21, 2013, 2pm

Prepare to be awed with an illuminating journey into the explosive science of fireworks with Exploratorium scientist Ron Hipschman during Full Spectrum Science: Fireworks. Learn who invented fireworks and what causes their bursts of beautiful color. Discover how fireworks’ exploding shells create different patterns, and learn to talk like a pyrotechnic pro with key lingo like “jerb” and “lance.” It’s an hour of percussive programming sure to bring new light to a favorite phenomenon. Full Spectrum Science: Fireworks is on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 7pm, and Sunday, July 21, 2013 at 2pm, in the Exploratorium’s Central Gallery Classroom.


Full Spectrum Science is a dynamic series on the third Thursday and Sunday of each month, that covers different aspects of physics, including sound, color, heat and temperature, and electrostatics. Each hour-long presentation includes hands-on activities and demonstrations. Thursday evening presentations are for adults ages 18 and up only, and Sunday daytime programs are for ages 6 years and older. All Full Spectrum Science presentations and are included with admission to the Exploratorium.

Hours of Operation & New Evening Hours
Tuesday-Sunday 10am-5pm;  every Thursday evening adults only (ages 18 and up) 6pm-10pm.

$29 for adults, with lower rates for SF Bay Area residents, youth, seniors, students, teachers and the disabled. Tickets available at the door and advance tickets available online at www.exploratorium.edu/visit/tickets.
