"Now let me find a silhouette of that big branch up there. There's a silhouette of the branch in front of the image of the sun on the board. But now look at the light that's reflected. What's that dark spot in the palm of the hand? That's the reverse image of the sun. There's a hole in the palm of the hand, so that light can't be reflected, right? But the light that goes through the hole in the palm of the hand is an image of the sun with a silhouette of a branch in front of it. So that image is missing from the reflected light. You see a dark image of the sun with a white silhouette of a branch in front of it!
