How has the Star Trek series of television shows influenced scientists, linguists, politicians, and even religious leaders? Why has Star Trek inspired people globally with its vision? What could possibly inspire Hollywood to produce four television series, an animated series, and nine movies over the past 34 years?

On Saturday, May 6th, 2000 we hosted a live panel discussion and webcast to explore the amazing phenomena of Star Trek. Guests included:

  • Jeff Greenwald, author of the book, FUTURE PERFECT: HOW STAR TREK CONQUERED PLANET EARTH
  • Steve Matousek, Mars Advance Concepts Manager at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL)
  • DaraQ (aka David Barron), the Klingon Language Institute's Education Officer
  • Gates McFadden, actor (Beverly Crusher in Star Trek, The Next Generation)

You will need the free RealPlayer in order to recieve the audio and video live feed and/or archive of the webcast.
