Leonard is a composer, performer, and instrument builder who creates instruments from unusual raw materials—everything from glass shards and pinecones to glaciers and box springs. Here she performs Selections from Antarctica: Music from the Ice with Phillip Greelief, as part of the Exploratorium’s Resonance series. As part of the weekend of celebrations in honor of the Golden Gate Bridge's 75th Anniversary, Mickey Hart and the Mickey Hart Band closed the festivities with a free concert. The show opened with Mickey playing a dynamic model of the Golden Gate Bridge created by the Exploratorium and sonified by Exploratorium exhibit developers in collaboration with Mickey Hart. On August 4, 2011 After Dark Blue delved into the color of cool with explorations of indigo, underwater vision, color photography, and blues performances by Lady Bianca, Bobbie Webb, and Fillmore Slim. This After Dark event got the holiday season off to a sweet start, presenting art, science, and history related to sugar. What are you afraid of? Snakes? Spiders? Heights? This After Dark event investigated the psychology and biology of fear, and included Damian Cooksey confronting his fear by demonstrating the sport of highlining far above visitors’ heads. Among the highlights of our Geometry Playground event were gravity-defying performances by four aerial artists from TrapezeWorld.
