            <description>    For our first episode in a new season of &quot;Science in the City&quot;, join us as we explore the creation of a bell for the Exploratorium's brand-new home at Pier 15.
  Artist Nick Diphillipo, working with molten metal and subsequently with objects created from it, has an an interest in bells for which he developed a process of manufacture.  Nick has been designing and casting bells and other cast objects for over thirty years.  He teaches a class in bell making at The Crucible in Oakland Ca.as well as other foundry related subjects.
