Fog Bridge #72494, an outdoor artwork by Fujiko Nakaya, pumps water, at high pressure, through more than 800 nozzles, shrouding visitors in fog and putting their perceptions at the center of the experience. It was the first installation in our Over the Water series, and is now permanently at the Exploratorium.
In response to California Governor Jerry Brown's statewide water restrictions, we're taking steps to further our water conservation efforts. Fog Bridge #72494 is currently turned off while we explore alternative water sources (such as desalinated water). We look forward to bringing it back when possible.
