A Skill-Building Experience: Making Careful Observations at Exhibits
The Science Studio is designed to ease the incorporation of an Exploratorium field trip into your curriculum. Students will be in a structured setting in which they will make careful observations at a few exhibits selected to complement your classroom studies. The experience starts with your classroom, centers around activities in the museum, and sends students back to school with a record of their observations in the museum. Before the trip, a museum educator will consult with you to make sure that your Science Studio topic will support your curriculum goals.
What Will Take Place
- When your group arrives at the museum, an Explainer will greet your class and provide a brief orientation.
- Your students will engage in focused exploration of specific exhibits related to the Science Studio topic. They will focus on the skills of making and recording observations.
- Students will then gather in one of our classrooms to share their work. The drawings and recordings they make are yours to bring back to the classroom for further study.
