IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT OUR TICKET DONATION PROGRAM
The ticket donation program will be on hold for any events that take place between June 1, 2012, and October 1, 2013, in preparation for our move to Pier 15 on San Francisco’s Embarcadero.
Each year the Exploratorium receives hundreds of requests for ticket donations to support fundraising efforts by nonprofit organizations in the greater San Francisco Bay Area.
Whether or not we can be a part of your event, the Exploratorium wishes you the best of luck in your fundraising efforts.
Ticket donations will operate as follows:
The Exploratorium will donate two complimentary general admission tickets upon request, per calendar year, to nonprofit organizations [501c3] that directly benefit children’s education.
Due to the high volume of requests received, we can only donate to organizations in the following counties:
- San Francisco
- Contra Costa
- San Mateo
- Santa Clara
- Alameda
Tickets will be mailed to the organization holding the fundraiser as specified in the requested information. In order to save on costs of mailing and paper, the Exploratorium asks that you do not send us a confirmation of receipt or tax letter for our donation.
To request admission to the Exploratorium for your fundraising event, please write a letter of request, on official letterhead, as an attachment to an e-mail citing the information listed below.
- Event date
- Contact name and title
- Contact address (business only – personal addresses not accepted)
- Contact phone
- Contact e-mail
- A description of what or who the fundraiser's proceeds will support
- Your organization's 501c3 status and federal ID number

Requests with incomplete information will not be fulfilled. Please note that due to the high volume of requests we receive, we require that you request your donation at least two months in advance of your event date and allow six weeks for processing.
We will respond by e-mail to your request within one week of receipt. If your request has met our guidelines we will let you know when to expect to receive the tickets. If your request is denied for any reason, we will tell you why.
