A pilot program of
Exploratorium Field Trips
The Science Studio is designed to ease the incorporation of an Exploratorium field trip into your curriculum. Students will be in a structured setting in which they will make careful observations at a few exhibits selected to complement your classroom studies. The experience starts with your classroom, centers around activities in the museum, and sends students back to school with a record of their observations in the museum. Before the trip, you will consult with a museum educator who will make sure your topic complements your classroom studies.
- Open to fourth- through sixth-grade school groups; limited to 1 class (12-30 children) per session
- Limited spaces available, October–December
- $100 in addition to field trip price
General Science Studio Outline
Once you make your reservation, you will be contacted by a museum educator to begin planning your trip.
When you arrive at the museum, your students will be greeted by an Explainer for a brief orientation.
- Your students will engage in focused exploration of specific exhibits related to the content theme. They will become “experts” on one or a few exhibits, and be ready to share their observations with the rest of the class.
- Students will then gather in one of our classrooms to share their work. The drawings and recordings they make are yours to bring back to the classroom for further study.
