Our two stores—one on the Embarcadero at Pier 15 and another in the middle of the museum—were inspired by our onsite exhibit workshop, where our exhibits are designed and built in a workshop that’s open to view on the museum floor. In the main store at Pier 15, look for a large, interactive Triple Vortex exhibit; a store fixture that converts into Scrapple, an interactive sound exhibit; and a cherry-red Art-O-Mat vending machine that dispenses original artworks.
Our stores carry unique gadgets, games, tinkering items, and books that focus on science, art, and technology. You’ll find a wide variety for both kids and adults that are great for holiday and birthday gifts or unusual San Francisco souvenirs. We also sell Exploratorium clothing and gift items that are made by local San Francisco artisans as well as items designed in-house. All purchases help to support the Exploratorium’s educational mission.
The main store is located at Pier 15 in San Francisco and is open to the public without needing to purchase a ticket to the museum. A smaller satellite store located within the Exploratorium caters to school field trips and paid visitors.
