After Dark: Dr. Megavolt under the Palace of Fine Arts Rotunda (Clip)

Miscellaneous: Between The Folds Preview (Clip)

The film Between the Folds is a 2009 work by filmmaker Vanessa Gould. Between the Folds chronicles ten artists and scientists who have devoted time to the unlikely medium of modern origami. Vanessa Gould, who has degrees in physics and architecture, explores the expression of mathematics through origami. She became captivated by the art and science of transforming sheets of paper into three-dimensional geometric shapes — and exposed a hidden subculture. The film will screen at the Exploratorium on Saturday, October 18th, at 2pm.

Exploratorium Audio Salon: NPR: Neighborhood Public Radio (Podcast)

NPR, or Neighborhood Public Radio is an artists collective and community radio project founded in 2004 by multimedia artists and educators Lee Montgomery, Jon Brumit and Michael Trigilio. Acting as a traveling band of guerilla broadcasters, NPR personnel have hosted thematic broadcasts from San Francisco to Serbia, including a stint at the 2008 Whitney Biennial. What is Neighborhood Public Radio? Imagine a storefront community radio station open to you. You get access to the airwaves regardless of your qualifications or message. We caught up with the founders of the now-decentralized NPR team, in Oakland, Chicago and San Diego to talk about the technical, social and political aspects of broadcasting, and about their tattoos. As a special treat for our listeners we thought it would be fun to ask Lee, Jon and Michael to create a new Audio-Art piece for our Podcast series. The idea was simple. Reflections: Shaking Time by Daniel Rozin (Clip)

Shaking Time Mirror is the forth of the "Time Series" Software Mirrors. This series of software mirrors examines notions of time, scanning, motion and stagnation. In Shaking Time Mirror only areas of movement on the screen are refreshed with current video, the rest of the screen ages and turns into a gray stagnant crust. When a viewer moves in front of the piece the crust flakes of and revels the full colored image of the viewer, which gradually grays back. Artist Daniel Rozin will be featured in the Exploratorium's summer exhibition, Reflections.

Reflections: Self-Centered Mirror by Daniel Rozin (Clip)

Self Centered Mirror is an arrangement of 34 vertical panes of mirror. It has a retro-reflective behavior, this means that anyone standing in front of this mirror will see themselves reflected on all 34 panes, The mirror will also remove anyone else in the space from being reflected. Reflections: Mirrors Mirror by Daniel Rozin (Clip)

Mirrors Mirror creates the viewers' image by directing 768 small mirror tiles in a way that reflects different portions of their image. The piece is made of 24 columns of "pixels" that form a concaved curved surface that is aimed at the viewer. Brighter pixels reflect the upper body of the viewer and the wall behind him and dark ones are aimed lower. Artist Daniel Rozin will be featured in the Exploratorium's 2009 summer exhibition, Reflections.
