Artists

If you’re an artist, you probably do what we—scientists, artists, exhibit and Web developers, and other staff—do at the Exploratorium. We look closely at the way the world works, notice things that others may have missed, chase and challenge ideas, experiment, and create new ways to look at the world.

For more than 40 years, we’ve offered—and continue to offer—staff and visiting artists a like-minded environment in which to give and get inspiration through events such as After Dark, our Artist-in-Residence and Cinema Arts programs, projects such as Invisible Dynamics, and more.

This video requires Flash. If you don’t have it, you can find it here. If you can’t run it, stay tuned; we’re looking into other solutions.

A Year of Art
at the Exploratorium

A lot of art happens here in a year. Watch this historic video, which features sacred butter sculptures, a series of rotating art machines, a multimedia playground, and more.

Some of these are ongoing projects or programs; others are already complete. Either way, they’ll give you a good idea of how artists work in the Exploratorium community.
