Nat Simons
Nat Simons is the co-founder of Prelude Ventures, a cleantech investment fund. Nat is also the co-founder of Sea Change Foundation, a private foundation currently dedicated exclusively to climate change and clean energy policy. Nat manages the Meritage family of funds, which he began in 1997. The Meritage portfolio is a combination of hedge fund and direct investments. Meritage spun out of Renaissance Technologies, where Nat was a principal and employed from 1994 to 2010. Prior to starting Meritage, Nat worked as a futures trader from 1995 to 1997 and as a data analyst from 1994 to 1995. He holds a bachelor's degree in economics (1989) and a master's degree in mathematics (1994) from the University of California, Berkeley. Nat remains a board member and vice-chair of Renaissance and is a member of the UC Berkeley Board of Visitors. He and his wife, Laura Baxter-Simons, have two children.
