Richard is the managing director at Promontory. Before joining Promontory, he was head of global treasury at Visa Inc., where he helped build its treasury department and foreign exchange trading business, and led back-office functions during the company’s initial public offering. As treasurer at Ameriprise Financial, he revamped the firm’s management of risks tied to variable-annuity benefits and achieved substantial cost savings and risk reduction prior to the market crash of 2008.
He holds a Master’s degree in finance and information systems from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a B.S. in mathematics, also from MIT. Richard serves on the Boards of the National Association of Corporate Treasurers, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, and the Mechanics Institute, a San Francisco library and chess room.
