Phoebe Tooke: Staff Artists

Phoebe joined the Exploratorium in 2011 and transitioned from her initial position as Video Producer to her current position as the Director of the Multimedia group in 2024. Phoebe has produced and directed a myriad of videos and projects at the Exploratorium including the awarding-winning projects, “Science in the City” and "Total Solar Eclipse: Stories from the Path of Totality." She has been a part of the eclipse leadership team for several years, serving as the project's broadcast director and lead content producer.
Phoebe's personal work has screened all over the world, including at the Academy of Motion Pictures, the Pacific Film Archive, the Telluride Film Festival, Slamdance, International Documentary Association’s Documentary Showcase, and the San Francisco International Film Festival. One of Phoebe’s films, “Circles of Confusion,” received a Student Academy Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and received a Golden Gate Award from the San Francisco Film Society. She has taught filmmaking at the San Francisco Art Institute and San Francisco State University. She received her MFA in Film Production at San Francisco State University in 2008.
