Bill Fontana

Bill Fontana (b. 1947) is an American composer and artist. He is known internationally for his experiments that use sound to transform and redefine perceptions of visual and architectural spaces. Fontana's sound sculptures and radio projects have been exhibited by museums internationally including the Whitney Museum of American Art, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Tate Modern, and Tate Britain, the 48th Venice Biennale, and the new Kolumba Museum in Cologne. He has done major sound art projects for the BBC, European Broadcast Union, National Public Radio, and other major broadcasting services.

This piece is a multi-channel sound sculpture. A system that continuously that makes random samples of sounds happening at the exploratorium and at continuously changing time combinations recycles these random samples back into the source environment.
