Kiewit Luminarium

A place for discovery.
Kiewit Luminarium will be a place to explore astonishing phenomena and learn with your hands. It aims to inspire lifelong interest and careers in science, technology, and engineering. Kiewit Luminarium will be a primary attraction along the Missouri Riverfront at Lewis & Clark Landing, and will contribute to a vibrant learning ecosystem. The Exploratorium has partnered with Heritage Services and architecture firm HDR to shape the vision, design, exhibits, and programs. Through this project, the Exploratorium has had the opportunity to work closely with local community leaders to build a place and culture that will feel relevant and meaningful, where people of diverse backgrounds learn together and from one another.
Kiewit Luminarium’s four main galleries are linked by two large-scale, iconic architectural features—a multistory tower and an immersive geometry climber. Interactive exhibits showcase physics, biology, environmental science, engineering, math, and the social sciences. Designed to foster hands-on engagement, the exhibits will allow visitors of all ages and backgrounds to learn and explore at their own pace, independently and with fellow visitors.
Kiewit Luminarium opened in the spring of 2023.
