2016 Total Solar Eclipse | March 8, 2016 | Preview
If the moon passed in front of the sun and cast a shadow on Earth, but nobody saw it, did it really happen? (Answer: yes.) Few people saw the solar eclipse of March 8, 2016 with their own eyes—much of the path of totality, the area on Earth where the eclipse was fully visible, lay over vast, landless ocean. To bring this astronomical event to as many people as possible, the Exploratorium webcast team traveled to the coral island of Woleai in the Pacific Ocean and broadcast it live. Watch the video to see the team's preparation before the eclipse.
