People-watching / Pier 9
People-watching / Pier 9
Installation ran July 2013 to early 2014
People-watching is part of our everyday life. As social beings, it's how we navigate relationships with others.
This installation was an experiment to see if we could facilitate people-watching in a public space. A system of moveable seats encourages active, interesting human behavior (and doubles as a play structure). From benches nearby, people can watch the action. Labels on the benches give people-watching hints and information about social behaviors users might observe.
