What’s the difference between a general admission ticket and a VIP ticket?
General admission ticket holders receive complimentary cocktails and gourmet hors d’oeuvres throughout the evening, plus access to various special cocktail-related science activities, demonstrations, and programs.
With a VIP ticket, you receive all the benefits of a general admission ticket plus special access, including early entrance, beginning at 8:00 p.m.
Are any discounts available?
Yes, we offer the following discounts:
Current donors, and general members receive 10% off their ticket purchase. Please use the discount code that was emailed to you during checkout to obtain this discount.
Group discounts for purchases of 20 tickets or more are available. Please email for more information.
Is my ticket purchase tax-deductible?
A portion of your ticket purchase is tax-deductible. After the event, you will receive an acknowledgment letter for your files.
Where does my donation go?
Your Science of Cocktails ticket purchase helps us inspire joyful lifelong learning with our weekly adults-only After Dark programs, spark STEM skills in kids and teens, change the way science is taught in schools across California, design Bay Area public spaces for learning and community, build a strong global community of educators and learners, and much more.
Do you sell tickets at the door?
There is no guarantee that tickets will still be available at the door, and we strongly recommend that you buy tickets on the Science of Cocktails website. You can purchase tickets online beginning Thursday, November 14, 2019.
What time does the event start?
VIP check-in begins at 7:45 p.m., and VIP entrance occurs at 8:00 p.m. General admission check-in begins at 8:45 p.m., and general admission guests may enter at 9:00 p.m.
What time does the event end?
Last call is 11:30 p.m., and bars close at 11:45 p.m. The event ends promptly at midnight.
How do I get to the Exploratorium?
The Exploratorium is easily accessible by public transportation; we strongly encourage attendees to use it to get to and from the event. If you drive, then please designate a driver. Visit our website for detailed information about getting to the Exploratorium and available parking.
Where do I pick up my ticket?
Electronic tickets are emailed to the ticket purchaser upon completion of the online ticket-purchase transaction. If you made a purchase but did not receive your electronic tickets, please email us.
I bought a ticket for my friends, and they can’t come. Can I get my money back?
Tickets to our fundraising events, including Science of Cocktails, are nonrefundable.
What should I wear to Science of Cocktails?
There is no dress code, but we encourage festive or cocktail attire.

I’m a member of the press. Do you reserve tickets for press?
We do reserve a limited number of tickets for qualified press. If you would like to attend as a member of the press, then send your press credentials to our Communications Department. We will respond and confirm your ticket with you.
If I promise not to drink, then can I attend the event if I'm younger than 21 years of age?
No one under the age of 21 is permitted to attend the event. There will be no exceptions, and security will card ticket holders as they enter.
Is there a coat check available?
There is a complimentary coat check available at the event. Backpacks, briefcases, tote bags, or any other such items are not permitted inside Science of Cocktails. You will be asked to leave these items at the coat check.
Will there be food available?
Hors d’oeuvres will be served throughout the night, but we encourage you to eat dinner before you arrive.
Will there be nonalcoholic beverages available?
Water is provided throughout the evening, as well as coffee and tea. Other nonalcoholic beverages are also available.
Where can I get the recipes for the cocktails served at Science of Cocktails?
Recipes for past Science of Cocktails events are available on our website, and recipes from this year’s event will be posted after the event.
