I enjoy learning by doing and noticing scientific phenomena in everyday life. As an educator and a curious learner, I construct and facilitate learner-centered experiences where science and technology collide with art and design. Some of my recent projects include Arduino-controlled interactive stuffed animals, a six-foot tall trebuchet, and a large format film camera built from scratch. My background is in both formal and informal education as a high school science teacher, an instructor and curriculum developer for Camp Galileo, and an afterschool educator for science and technology programs in the East Bay. As a Project Coordinator, I can be found on any given day prototyping new activities in the Learning Studio, facilitating workshops on the floor with visitors, leading after school tinkering sessions, or working to maintain the mountains of materials we keep.
