The Nautilus explores the deep-sea waters just off the California Coast in federally protected marine sanctuaries. In addition to documenting shipwrecks, the scientists, educators and engineers aboard the Nautilus examine deep sea coral communities and the rugged geology that contributes to the unique habitats and high productivity of the West Coast. The ship is equipped with two remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) along with technology that beams real-time video feeds from the ROVs to scientists on shore. Follow along with expedition leader Bob Ballard and his crew as they investigate parts of the deep sea that have never been seen before.
