This month we move entirely off the screen and shut down the projector to celebrate great scores in cinema. For nearly two decades, the nine-piece Orchestra Nostalgico has lionized scores—the second narrative of beloved films. Drawing from their most recent record, Orchestra Nostalgico Plays the Film Music of Ennio Morricone, Nino Rota, Bernard Herrmann, and More!, the orchestra will evoke the great films served by these great composers, highlighting how intrinsically sound and image are tied. Featuring brief bursts from extended scores, as well as immediately recognizable themes, the craft of cinema scores will be elevated from the background to take center stage.
Orchestra Nostaligco emerged in the 1990s from the popular Club Foot Orchestra, which became known for creating and performing vivid live scores for silent films.
