Donor Reception: Behind the Scenes of Cells to Self

Thursday, October 24, 2019 • 6:00–9:00 p.m.

Gallery 4 Corridor

By RSVP only. Space is limited.

Note: This event is an exclusive benefit for Catalyst Circle, Director’s Circle, Leadership Circle, Exploratorium Trust, and Oppenheimer Circle donors, and for our corporate and foundation supporters.

All life begins as a single cell—and Cells to Self begins with a celebration.

Join us for a donor reception celebrating the opening month of Cells to Self: Exploring the Life Inside You, a new life sciences exhibition. Mix and mingle with the curators and project team, who will be on hand to tell you the science and stories behind each exhibit.

We’ll also be joined by special guest New York Times columnist Carl Zimmer. As donors, you’ll have reserved seating for Zimmer’s presentation at After Dark later that evening.

Cells to Self considers the incredible diversity of cell form and function, from the environmental awareness of bacteria to human heart cells beating in response to electricity. In 2017, we debuted a small set of prototype exhibits that brought a typical laboratory experience to the museum floor. In October 2019, we launch the full Cells to Self permanent collection, with over 20 new interactive exhibits and works of art in a newly redesigned space. See cells as you’ve never seen them before.

Admission includes entrance to After Dark: It’s Alive! Adults only (18+).

Note: This event is one of many donor benefits that allow you to support and explore the Exploratorium in its 50th anniversary year. To learn more about becoming a donor and how to attend this event and those like it, please contact us.
