Join us for a bean bag toss challenge.

Reach Your Goals
How do your opportunities (resources, proximity, and challenge level) affect your ability to achieve higher goals?

You’ll choose three sets of opportunity cards (or balls) determining your starting resources (# of bean bags), proximity (where they stand in relation to the hole), and challenge level (height of the bar). Try to earn as many points as possible:

  • 3 points = bean bag in hole
  • 1 point = bean bag on the board
  • 0 points = missing the board or not making it over the bar.

For every 5 points scored you’ll get an extra bean bag.

Converse Using Few Words

Imagine that you need to communicate in an unfamiliar language. How many things can you say or understand with a very limited vocabulary?

  • Choose 1 or more sets of cards, each with simple phrases in a an unfamiliar language.

  • Greet each other and introduce yourselves.

Get to know your partner. You can start by asking where they’re from, for directions, or what their favorite foods or colors are.

Use everyday materials to create models and other tools for exploring the world around us. Run by a highly skilled, dedicated team of volunteers, these drop-in workshops mix classic activities with open-ended investigations, encouraging participants to follow their hunches to aha moments of scientific insight.

All materials provided; take what you make.

Explorables has been offering science to go since 1990.
